shade cloth

The shade cloth is tied onto the railing.  It makes a big difference in keeping the studio cool. There's blinding glare off the ocean for an hour or so in the mornings this time of year.

April ghost crab

Just unloaded the crab bowl this morning. This is the last glaze firing of the kiln until fall. Back to canvas. The construction of a new house outside my studio isn't as disturbing now that their work is mostly indoors.

I'm painting sea life this time around.  While researching parrot fish I saw images of some that have flower tatoos!

5 new canvases stretched this week. Time now to draw and plan what to paint next.

Work Room

acrylic 44" x 48" My sweetheart in his studio.  This was started a year ago.  I keep looking and refining.

"Spoonbills"

acrylic 44" x 50" This photo was taken before the final touch of a yellowish glaze over the pink. The pink was too harsh. The wash pushed the pink toward a softer salmon tone.

"Door to the Pink House"

acrylic 26" x 30" This painting seemed complete when I added the watering can. This is our bonsai garden area. First our house was yellow, then pink, and after our 25 years here, the house is now painted orange.

Beach at Vero

This is a Big painting.
48" x 54" acrylic   The painting is finally finished with the added figure walking off to the right.  Usually a big painting takes me about a month.  I've worked on this one off and on for two years.

Just painted this week for a McKee Garden fundraiser.

preparation

This frog is painted on paper with acrylic.  Drawing image ideas ahead on paper makes glazing easier later.

Mexico

Just back from 12 nights in San Miguel de Allende. We visited a private Folk Art Museum.
